Kepler Track

This awe-inspiring track was designed to show you all the best features of Fiordland - mountains, native forest, waterfalls and glacier-carved valleys.

The Kepler Track is located in Fiordland National Park and is a circuit track that starts and finishes 5km from Te Anau.

It is 60km in length and is a 3 to 4 day walk.

The optimum time for walking this track is during the summer months. During winter the snow and ice causes many parts of the alpine section of the track to be closed.

Start your Kepler Track experience in style with a short scenic cruise across Lake Te Anau to Brod Bay, a beautiful sandy beach, where you will meet up with the Kepler Track and start the climb of Mount Luxmore, from Brod Bay it is approximately a 3 hour walk to the Luxmore Hut for your first nights accommodation.

Mount Luxmore Day Walk

If you haven't the time to walk the 4 day/60km Kepler Track then a day walk to the sumit of Mount Luxmore is a ideal way to experience part of this Great Walk.

We will take you to Brod Bay, a beautiful sandy beach, from where you start the climb of approximately 3 hours to the Luxmore Hut to experience fantastic views over the Fiordland National Park

From the Luxmore Hut a further 1 hour will get you to the sumit of Mount Luxmore.

On your return to Brod Bay you again meet the boat for a relaxing short cruise back to Te Anau.

More than 48 hours before booked departure time - 10% booking/administration fee will be charged.

48 hours to 24 hours before booked departure time - 50% cancellation fee will be charged.

Less than 24 hours before booked departure time & No Show at time of departure - 100% will be charged.

The Kepler Track is a 60 kilometres (37 mi) circular tramping track which travels through some of the spectacular scenery on the South Island of New Zealand. The track passes through many landscapes of the Fiordland National Park ranging from rocky mountain ridges to tall mossy forests, from lake shores to deep gorges. Like the mountains it traverses, the track is named after Johannes Kepler. The track is administered by New Zealand Department of Conservation (DOC).

Compared with other tracks in New Zealand, this walking track is constructed to a very high standard. Most streams are bridged, boardwalks cover boggy areas and the very steep sections have steps. It is a moderate walking track that takes three to four days to complete.

The Kepler Track is also home to The Kepler Challenge, an annual running race that traverses the whole 60 kilometres in less than five hours.
