The Waterfall Adventure is our longest scheduled cruise and the ultimate way to Feel Fiordland.

South Fiord is approximately twice as long as Milford Sound, and this three-hour adventure takes you deep into its most remote reaches. No other cruise operators travel all the way to Gorge Falls, so you can escape the crowds and experience a part of Fiordland that very few visitors ever see. Most days, it feels as though you have the entire fiord to yourself.

Departing directly from the Te Anau lakefront, we cross Lake Te Anau and enter Fiordland National Park within around 10 minutes. From there, we travel farther into South Fiord as the scenery becomes increasingly wild and dramatic.

Cruise beneath steep mountain walls, past ancient native beech forest, secluded beaches and waterfalls cascading into the fiord. When conditions allow, we take you close enough to hear the roar, feel the spray and experience the true force of Fiordland’s water.

At the end of South Fiord, step ashore in one of the most remote parts of Lake Te Anau for a short guided walk to Gorge Falls. The forest path is exactly how nature intended it to be—no boardwalks, no manicured trail and no crowds. Just native bush underfoot, towering forest overhead and a powerful waterfall hidden at the end.

The Waterfall Adventure gives us time to travel farther, explore hidden corners and make the most of the conditions on the day. There is no rigid sightseeing schedule. Chris or Erica will shape the journey around the weather, recent rainfall and lake conditions.
