An 8.5 metre rigid inflatable boat of Rayglass Pedigree. Flyby and its sister ships were built to fill a need a rescue vessels, harbour master vessels and Americas Cup Chase boats. They offer exceptional stability and one of the driest rides for a vessel of its side. You will find Rayglass protectors all over the world doing what they do best!
FLYBY boasts two 150hp Yamaha 4 stroke outboard offering super reliability and fuel economy. With a top speed of 44 knots and economical cruise of 32 knots FLYBY creates a far smaller carbon footprint than bigger vessels due to the short travel times between our special sites.
FLYBY is best suited for small site seeing groups of up to 6 or larger groups up to 11 for transport across the lake or up to Te Anau downs or to the back country huts. It also makes an outstanding vessel for lake or sea fishing with the open bow and clear decks.
Built in 1967 as a sports fisher by renowned builder/designers Olliver and Gillpin Carousel is a Kauri Carvel hull weighing it a 14t. This makes her very stable and dry on all conditions on the lake.
With a Ford Dover engine (of London Bus fame), reliability is second to none. Being a full mechanical working engine there are no tricky electronics and wizardry to keep her going, she will happily chug away all day burning minimal fuel.
CAROUSEL started life as a game fishing vessel on the East coast of the North island before steaming all the way to Bluff, around Stewart island and then being trucked to the lake over 20 years ago where she works today.
