Discover Lake Te Anau on our Discovery Cruise

Discovery Cruise

Join Peter & Cruise Te Anau for a boutique 3 hour Discovery Cruise to the beautiful and tranquil South Fiord of Lake Te Anau where I will take you further into the South Fiord than any other cruise, you will view spectacular mountains and breathtaking scenery & get up close to the sheer sided mountains.

Peter will talk to you one-on-one telling you about the lake & this unique area that is often overlooked on the quest to visit the popular tourist areas.

Experience the Fiordland rain forest when we disembark for a gentle guided nature walk to discover the Hidden Lakes.

On your return to the boat relax and enjoy a complementary tea/coffee, along with a homemade muffin, while taking in the ever-changing natural tranquillity and serenity before we make our way back to Te Anau.

Our boutique cruises have a maximum of 12 people so you can enjoy a personal cruise into the remoteness of the Fiordland National Park, a world heritage area, where unspoilt scenery will amaze you.

Lake Te Anau and the Freshwater Inland Fiords

Lake Te Anau has unique geographic features, the 3 ‘Arms’ of the Lake which extend on the Western side are in fact Inland freshwater Fiords, these Fiords are possibly the only Freshwater Inland Fiords in the world.

On the cruise Peter will tell you more about these unique Fiords.

Lake Te Anau has the only three named Fiords in New Zealand!    South Fiord – Middle Fiord – North Fiord.

The 14 Sounds on the South West coast of Fiordland (Milford Sound & Doubtful Sound being the most well known) are not actually Sounds but in fact are Fiords.

The South Fiord is like Doubtful Sound (beautiful) and is approximately the same lengh……it runs 30km back into the mountains on the western side of the lake, the South Fiord is about 2x the lengh of Milford Sound.
